I haven't blogged in over a month?! What's up with that? We've been busy around here. My {29th} Birthday, Christmas, and a New Year happened. Here are some of my favorite pics from the holidays.

Christmas is over and its 2012 which means Harper will be here soon. I can't believe I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow! Only 6 more weeks {or less}!

Her name

We decided on her name a few months ago. My goal was to know her name by the time I went to First Monday at the beginning of November. Sounds dumb, I know, but I wanted to buy a few things especially for her! It took us awhile for us {Aaron & I} to agree on a name. We had plenty of boys names, of course, but finding the perfect name for our daughter was tough! When all was said and done we agreed on a name that had come up when I was pregnant with Cohen. It was Cohen's girl's name, I guess you could say. We have loved it for almost 3 years, so we are bound to love it forever! So, our precious baby girl's name is...

We definitely can't wait to meet our little Harper! Or "Hawper" as Cohen says. :)

Updates

We wanted to pass on some great news, thank you for your prayers and ask for you to continue to pray. We saw Dr. Laird, the pedo cardiologist again today and he called the check-up "very encouraging"! The fluid around the heart is now gone and it appears to be pumping "better". Also, the VSD (the large hole) appears to be "smaller" than it was and in his words "could possibly be trying to close up". The right ventricle was still slightly smaller than the left and the tricuspid valve still has a "moderate" leak. He said the words "very encouraging" several times, which made us smile...a lot. The structural defects are still there, but the heart overall seems to be functioning better.

We're in no way out of the woods yet, but he's stretched out our visits to every two weeks for now and things seem to be headed in a good direction. Thank you so much for your prayers. We ask that you continue to pray for her (and us).

Noah turned 5 on the 21st and had a pirate party!

We had our Thanksgiving Feast and program at preschool. Cohen was a turkey and wasn't really into singing in front of a large crowd!

Noah was a pilgrim and did a great job singing his song, saying his poem and playing instruments. Still can't believe he is 5 and that this is his last year of preschool!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Christmas will be here before we know it! Yikes!

Update on our baby girl...

We had a follow-up visit with Dr. Laird, the pediatric cardiologist and the report was not good on our baby girl's heart. The three structural issues that were identified last visit appear now to have been the result of a larger problem with the heart. In the last 5 weeks, her heart has grown "larger than it should be" and is now struggling to "squeeze" or pump normally. Some fluid has started to gather around the heart as a result of it being over-worked and in general he said "the heart looks worn out". The cause of these issues has yet to be identified. She could simply have a defective, weak heart. It could also be as simple as an infection in the heart or in her blood and the heart has been working extra hard to compensate. At this point they don't know anything and he wouldn't speculate given the wide range of possibilities. He did give me some medication that will hopefully help strengthen the baby's heart and pump more efficiently. We're meeting (hopefully tomorrow) with the same doctor who performed the level 2 sonogram to get another overall picture of the baby and her general health. This could help to pinpoint a cause of the symptoms or rule out others. We're also scheduled to meet with Dr. Laird again next Monday to check the progress on the heart.

On Tuesday, I had an appointment with a Dr. in Dallas for a level 2 sonogram at the recommendation of my OBGYN. At my previous appointment with her, she noticed an abnormal heartbeat while listening to the baby. So, she thought, just to be on the safe side, I get a more in depth sonogram done. She assured me that she didn't think it was anything serious but wanted to be cautious. So, we went to our appointment, thinking that they are just going to confirm what the OBGYN heard, and that it wouldn't be a big deal. Well, it turns out the heartbeat sounded normal, but when looking at the heart he noticed what he thought was a heart defect. He couldn't give us a ton of information since that isn't his expertise, so he referred us to a pediatric cardiologist at Medical City and made us an appointment for today.

So today, I had a fetal echo done on the baby (a very fancy sonogram). The doctor found 3 areas of concern on the baby's heart. The first is a "moderate to large" hole on the inner wall that separates the left and right ventricles. (Called a ventricular septal defect or VSD). The other concerns are that the right ventricle looks to be “slightly smaller” than the left and a valve on the same side has a “moderate” leak. I won’t spell out all the potential ramifications, concerns, etc. but the bottom line (with all 3 concerns) is that they each have about a 50/50 chance of improving/worsening. The good news is that none of these issues are having an affect on the baby’s development in the womb. So praise God for that.

We go back to the same doctor to check the progress in one month. The hope is that all three areas have improved. If they are the same and/or worse, the baby will probably need serious care and or surgery after birth. We ask that you pray that the strength of her heart will improve, that hole will close up and the leak will stop.

It's Soup Season!

The temperatures are dropping {slowly}, which means it's time for soup season! Seriously, one reason why I love fall is beacause I love the smell of a good soup simmering on the stove. I've never shared a recipe before, but I want to share one of my favorite soups with you! Why you ask? Because I've been known as the "Soup Queen" to some people {okay maybe just one person}, since I love to make soups!
Disclamer: I have gotten all of my favorite soup recipes from my mother, so maybe SHE is the "Soup Queen?

Shrimp Corn Chowder {Aaron's most-favorite soup ever}

1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves of garlic minced
1/4 c butter
3 c whole milk
8 oz cream cheese, softened and cubed
1 can of Rotel tomatoes and green chillies
2 cans of creamed corn
1 T dried basil
1T Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning {this is spicy, so add more or less to whatever degree of spicyness you like}
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 1/2 lbs small shrimp, cooked, peeled, and deveined {you can find them in the frozen seafood section}

Saute bell pepper, onion, and garlic in butter until softened. Add the rest of ingredients and simmer on medium for 30 minutes.

Serve immediately. Aaron and I like to sprinkle a little Tony's on top before eating. This soup is delicious with corn bread!

Maybe because I'm not that faithful to blogger, or because I'm a busy Mommy, but how could I forget to announce this to the world {or about a hand full of people ;)}???

Cohen is without pacifier. I repeat, Cohen is without the beloved P-A-C-I!!! {We have to spell it, around here, because he's still missing it some.}

He's been without it for about a month and still mentions it from time to time. We decided to do the cold turkey method and after a few days he finally went to sleep without crying out for it. We were very excited it went so well! Yay for being a BIG boy!

12 Weeks

I'm already 12 Weeks! Time is ticking right along. I have felt pretty good thus far. Between weeks 6-10, I was nauseous off and on. That's something I've never experienced before. Just a little tired, but other then that, I feel pretty good. I'm definitely showing sooner this time around. I guess that's pretty normal for your 3rd baby. Still weird to think we are going to have a 3rd!

The boys are still very excited to be big brothers! They still want a "Baby Sister" {I think Cohen does, because that's what he hears Noah say}. Looking ahead at my appointments, I will probably find out at the end of September. My first guess is that the baby is a boy {duh} because the second I'll start thinking it's a girl, I'll get my hopes up! That might have already happened a couple of times.

Anyways, our gospel community {small group} is on a little baby kick lately and one one of them came over for a play date. Here are the boys with Baby Rowan...

Anyways, there's a little summary of whats been going on lately. We are very excited to start school in a couple of weeks. Until then, we'll be trying to stay cool!

Baby #3 is due March 4, 2012 and we couldn't be more excited! I am a little over 10 weeks and already have a tiny bump! Prayers for a healthy baby and pregnancy would be appreciated!

The boys couldn't be more thrilled! They are loving the idea of sharing a room and bunk beds! When we told the boys, Noah said with excitement, "I'm going to have a baby sister?!" We said we didn't know yet and that it could very well be another brother. So, we shall see if Noah is correct in a couple of months! I will be posting a belly pic soon since it seems to have expanded even earlier this time around. Thanks again for your prayers!

First Trip to the Dentist

Noah and Cohen both had their first Dentist visit yesterday! They did AWESOME. I figured Noah would do great and was worried Cohen wouldn't sit/lay still. He surprised us all!

Finally! I'm posting our last day in Orlando which seems like ages ago! We started out the day at the pool...

Then Mimi and Pawpaw took the boys to Animal Kingdom while Aaron, Kami, James and myself went to Epcot for a few hours...

Day 6: Our 2nd Day at Magic Kingdom

Since Magic Kingdom is SO big, I definitely recommend 2 days there {especially if you have small children}. Once again we were up early and ready to get to the park when it opened.

Our first ride {that I documented with a picture} was Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. We loved this ride...probably not as much as Toy Story Mania, but still real fun!

We next moved on to Astro Orbiter. You take an elevator up several stories, so you get a good view of Magic Kingdom...probably the only cool part about this ride ;)

Next up was Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor...very cute show. Even James' joke was featured in the show! Then, it was on to Mickey's PhilharMagic. This was definitely my favorite show there! No pictures from either attraction. The next part of the day, was by far the highlight. While the "big" kids rode Thunder Mountain Railroad, Mimi and Pawpaw stood in line with the boys to see Jessie and Woody! The line was LOOOOONG, but well worth it. Every 10 min or so Jessie and Woody would go to "check on Bullseye" {AKA a new Jessie and Woody would come out in the 95 degree heat so that they wouldn't get over heated}. This happened twice while we were in line and of course it happened when they got to the very front of the line. It did make for a cute picture though!

The "big" kids then went off to ride Space Mountain...

Oh, and somewhere in there we fit in The Hall of Presidents and the Haunted Mansion.

We ended the day with catching the afternoon parade...perfect ending to Magic Kingdom.

Day 5: Cohen's Birthday

We spent most of Cohen's Birthday at the pool, but of course I didn't get any pictures! That evening, we all went to the House of Blues and walked around Downtown Disney.

Here is the Birthday boy, who of course, wouldn't look at the camera, and a picture with Uncle Jared.

While walking around downtown Disney, Noah spotted his souvenir from Mimi and Pawpaw. This place was cool and right up Noah's alley. It was kind of like a build a bear but with cars instead.

He of course chose a Blue Dinoco Lightning McQueen...so proud of himself!

Since Day 5 of Disney was Cohen's 2nd Birthday and I never did a Birthday Blog for him, here it goes!

All about Cohen at 2 years old
-he loves his sweets, especially cookies and suckers.
-he loves his brother "Woah" and loves to copy anything he does.
-but he also loves to sit on his head, tackle him, scratch him, and push him :)
-he likes to get his way and won't stop at anything until he does...can we say "strong willed"?!
-he can count to ten...Noah might have taught him this, because I hate to say, it wasn't me!
-he knows most or some or none of his colors depending on the day :)
-he is quite the talker and is finally stringing words together. "Time is it"?, "Almost over?", "Mommy's shoes", etc.
-he says the sweetest prayers often including items he sees around the room.
-he loves to give Daddy a kiss and hug when he leaves for work.
-he would rather sleep next to his door then in his bed :)
-he likes to make messes...BIG messes!
-he would rather eat crayons then color with them. See above.
-he can unbuckle himself out of his booster...awesome!
-he loves to sing songs such as "Twinkle Little Star", "Old McDonald" and "ABC's".
-he loves to read books especially if they involve Sesame Street characters.

We love you Cohen! Can't wait to see what your future holds!

Day 4 at Hollywood Studios

We got up early to head to Hollywood Studios before the park opened. That is key, if want to get a fast pass for Toy Story Mania, Disney's most popular ride {and well worth it!}. Of course we couldn't go far without taking a few pictures first.

While some were in line to get the fast passes, David spotted where Buzz Lightyear would be posing for pictures, so we jumped in line to meet him! Naoh was SO excited and Cohen really didn't know what to think.

Next, it was time to see Disney Junior Live on Stage which included. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Very cute show and the boys loved it!

We then went to see the Muppet Vision Show in 3D. Noah loved it and was amazed by images popping out at him.

After that we headed to Honey I Shrunk the Kids. I definitely remember this as a kid and it was just as impressive as an adult! The boys had a blast {including Aaron}!

After eating lunch, it was finally time to ride Toy Story Mania! This was hands down our favorite ride at any park, including all of the "adult" rides.

Mimi and Pawpaw took the boys home for naptime while all the "big" kids got to stay and do "big" rides. We rode The Tower of Terror twice {eeks!}, Star Tours, and Rockin' Roller Coaster. Some how I just got a picture of us outside The Tower of Terror, oh well.

Up next: Day 5- Cohen's Birthday!

Day 3 at Magic Kingdom

This was definitely my favorite day of the trip! The boys were so excited and there is nothing like seeing the castle in person, it was magical {very cheesy, I know}! We woke up early and got to the park about 30 minutes until opening. They do a little production minutes before it opens which definitely builds up the excitement of the day!

Our first ride on the list was the Dumbo ride. {Side note: If you're ever to plan a trip to Disney visit this site. You can customize your own itinerary for each day at Disney. They take into account the ages of kids, recommend what days at which parks are less crowded and what rides to go to first. This saved us hours!!!} This line was the longest line we stood in all day, about 20 mins. Not too bad!

Next on our schedule was Peter Pan's Flight. This was one of my favorite indoor rides because the whole time you are flying over London at nighttime and Never-Never Land in a pirate ship.

Our next stop was to the Mad Tea Party...AKA The Teacups! Another classic Disney ride and everyone enjoyed it!

Next we rode "It's a Small World". This definitely brought back memories of the first time I rode it back in 1992ish. Funny how that song sticks in your head all. day. long. Are you singing it? Is it in your head yet? :)

Next we rode The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Too cute.

Then we took a "raft" over to Tom Sawyer Island. We had fun navigating through dark caves, going over barrel bridges and playing in a fort!

Next up was Splash Mountain! All of the adults were excited to do a big ride and even Noah was interested in riding it after seeing the big drop at the end of the ride. We thought we would let him try it so we took turns. Noah was very brave on the ride even after the "surprise" drop in the dark during the ride. Afterward, he said he that he didn't want to ride it again. Understandable! Aaron & I waited outside of the ride while the other adults rode it first. I didn't get a picture of us riding it, but we got a good one of them!

After Splash Mountain we headed for the exit and went back to the hotel for naps/late lunch. Then got back into the car(s) to go back to Magic Kingdom. After entering he park we decided to take the typical picture in front of the castle.

We then headed to Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean....both very entertaining.

After those couple of rides it was time to go meet Mickey and Minnie! I wasn't sure how they would do with the life-size characters since Noah hasn't had the best track record with them and Cohen did not like Santa last year. But to our surprise they looooved them. The boys gave them several hugs and even stood still long enough to get an adorable picture.

After the highlight of the day it was time for the Main Street Electrical Parade that featured lots of the characters in lighted floats. This was a great ending to our first day at Disney World!

Next up: Day 4 at Hollywood Studios!

Day 1 & 2 in Orlando

We're back from Florida! We had the most awesome time! We went to Disney World for 4 {really 3 1/2 days} with Aaron's parents, sister and bro-in-law, and brother. Thanks so much for a trip that we will never forget!

Day 1

We departed from Love Field and flew to Houston first. We then got on another plane with Aaron's parents and was on our way to Orlando. Both of the boys did great! This was Cohen's first plane ride and we were a little nervous about it. He didn't have his own seat since he was under two and Aaron and I took turns with him in our lap. Our last leg of the trip Cohen slept on Aaron for almost 2 hours! We were shocked!

We then arrived in Orlando, got the rental car, and was headed to an Embassy Suites for 1 night. We couldn't check into the condo until Saturday afternoon. We pretty much headed straight to the pool!

Day 2

The next day we headed to our condo and again, headed straight for the pool! This pool was awesome! It couldn't have been more perfect for 2 little boys!

That night we went to a yummy Italian Restaurant/ Pizzaria for dinner. It was yummy!

Next up: Day 3 at Magic Kingdom!

...is officially in a toddler bed! Okay, so it's still his crib but about a month ago we took the front rail off. Homeboy kept climbing out of his crib! It didn't really surprise us one bit. We knew it was coming. Just shows you that this little boy is almost 2! Next milestone: getting rid of that paci!

I know I haven't been the best blogger lately. Its really hard to find time to do it, but I am going to try to. Another reason is I haven't been good about taking pictures, and I even got a new camera for Christmas! Hence the month and a half old picture above!

Let me just say, it's been crazy around here. Chasing Cohen around is a job in itself. Last week I thought I was going to go crazy, because Cohen was sooo fussy and clingy and into EVERYTHING and SO destructive. Turns out he wasn't in the terrible twos stage {yet}, he just had an ear infection. After antibiotics, he is his happy little self, still into EVERYTHING and a little destructive, but at least he's smiling while doing it:)!

Noah is doing well ever since he got his cast off in December. He is not walking on his tiptoes anymore, but still isn't walking completely normal. We are working on it and will go back to Scottish Rite in a couple months for an evaluation.

The boys both love preschool! {And are missing it a lot this week!} It is so fun to see them interact with their little friends at school. Noah, especially, talks about his friends all the time. He wants them all to come over and have a sleepover! {Wishful thinking!}

Like many of you, we have been stuck inside for a couple days. This is very challenging for two active boys. I have tried to keep them busy but we are SOOO ready to get out and see other people. It has been nice having Aaron at home. We have watched several movies and just been lazy together, and all the boys have played "Captain and soldiers" several times. Translation: The boys hide behind a box with their "guns" and try to shoot Mommy while I'm cooking breakfast or lunch or dinner. I've done A LOT of cooking lately!

Recovering

Noah is doing awesome in his recovery! The first day was pretty rough (for all of us) because he fought us hard in taking his medicine and trying to walk some. Now he takes his medicine with no fight and is taking some steps on his own. He has a walker too that can help him get around until he use to walking with a cast.

I guess I should back up and explain why his surgery was last Thursday instead of next summer! We scheduled an appointment early last week for a checkup. His foot had gotten worse, and he often complained about it hurting him when he would walk for long amounts of time. Scottish Rite had told us to contact them if it was giving him any trouble. So, we did and had our appointment scheduled for last Wednesday. Sure enough the surgeon told us that he would need the suregery sooner then next summer. So, they asked us how tomorrow (Thursday) was, and said that we better schedule it quickly since around the holidays they are pretty booked. So, we thought, why not do it Thursday, and get it over with!

We went in early Thursday morning at 5am, and he was in surgery by 9:30. The surgery went awesome, and we were so relieved! He will have to have his cast on for 6 weeks, but he can walk in it with a boot. He will probably have some physical therapy after the cast is off and have to wear a brace. The bad part is that he might have to have the surgery again. Since he is so young, his achilles tendon will more than likely tighten back up when he has a big growth spurt. It is very common though to have multiple achilles tendon lengthening surgeries. Here are some pictures from the hospital:

It seems like all my posts lately are catch-up posts. Sorry for the lack of blogging! Last week we went to the State Fair with my parents, sister and the cousins! We had a blast of course...there's nothing like the State Fair of Texas! We missed Daddy, though. Hopefully, we will be returning with him soon.

In other news, Cohen finally got his first real hair cut! He's barely recognizable to us!

I can't believe we are in the second week of October already! It's hard to believe that BIG brother will be 4 next month!!! Crazy! Noah loves him some Rangers and Baseball lately.

Oh, and please Rangers, don't let this little boy down!

A little catch-up

I finally got some pictures of the boys with their teachers. Here they are on the second day of school!

And this past weekend we headed to Norman for the OU game and also stopped by to see Chaz, Bonnie, and meet precious Dean in OKC! We loved getting to visit with them and hold sweet Dean, who slept in our arms the entire time!

Believe it or not this was the only shot I got of us at the game. We were melting in the heat at this point and of course, I left my sunglasses in the car! It was fun (and a good game!) despite baking in the sun! Thanks to Aaron's parents who gave us the tickets and to my parent's who watched the boys so we could go!

Man, I'm ready for fall weather!

We survived the first day! Noah and Cohen had awesome first days and mine went pretty well too! Can't complain! Didn't get a picture with their teachers but I sure will tomorrow! As you can see it is very hard to snap a picture of the boys. But their pictures just about sums it up! And, yes, I know, Cohen needs a first haircut. I was practically in denial till I saw these pics! A first day isn't complete without Noah and his best bud, Savannah, posing for the camera!

We sure are one busy crew over here! With preschool starting on Tuesday, we are soaking up the last of our summer! Last night was meet-the-teacher and can I just say, that I have the most adorable class ever! I am very excited to start the school with this precious group! Noah and Cohen lucked out with some awesome teachers and, I am excited for them as they start preschool! They are growing up! Oh, and who isn't excited about college football season starting?! We will be heading to Norman next weekend (and hopefully squeeze in some time with Baby Dean!) for the OU/Fla St. game. Exciting times ahead for the Ellis'!

We finally have a new computer...yippee!!! I guess you can call this my BIG catch up post! It sure was nice having a little break from blogging, though. Anyways, lets go all the way back to the 4th of July. Here are the boys in their tye dye for the fourth. As you can see it was very hard to get a good picture of the two them.

A couple of weeks ago we went to the Rangers game with my whole fam and my mom's side of the family. Didn't get pictures of everybody, but me and Aaron snapped one. Doesn't he look cute in his Rangers hat?! Not used to seeing him in that!

And here is BIG Noah, so proud of himself! Why, you ask? He is finally, totally, completely, POTTY TRAINED (translation: he is going #2 in the potty now!)!!!!! That is why he has his BIG Buzz and Toy Story tent! Seriously, right after he went we all got in the car and went to Walmart because we promised him those two things! And he was so excited! (we are too if you can't tell!)

Next is Six Flags!!! I got to go kid-less (thanks to a couple of friends!), last Friday with my mom, sister, and my two oldest nieces. It was pretty hot but we had so much fun. The girls even rode the Titan! Which is so scary by the way! Anyways, here is us sitting in the big chair. I remember sitting in the chair when I was way younger, so we had to do it!

And, finally, here is BIG Cohen, who looks older and bigger everyday! I can't believe he will be 14 months in a few days! He is talking more, climbing on stuff more, more curious, more busier then ever! But he is ever so sweet!

Noah started swim lessons this week w/ Ms. Laura. This picture just about sums it up. Noah wasn't too crazy about sticking his face and head in the water or kicking his legs while holding onto a noodle, while the girls in his class loved every second. Maybe he will be a little more courageous today.

Noah did, however, love Toy Story 3! My whole family {minus cohen} went to see it Sunday for Father's Day. If you plan on seeing it, bring a box of tissues!

Noah had his appt. at Scottish Rite yesterday and it went really well. He will definitely have to have surgery to lengthen his heel cord {the back of his ankle}, but it will not be until next summer. They said if they were to do it now then he would have to have it done multiple times. So we have to wait a bit, but they said other than that he looks great. We thought that was pretty good news. Noah loved going to Scottish Rite...such a kid-friendly place. This picture doesn't really show that, but maybe just his general attitude as a 3 1/2 yr. old!

Well, Cohen is officially one! It is really hard to believe! He has started to talk more which is so cute. He also can make a "one" with his fingers. He is climbing on everything, which means more bumps and bruises! He is eating more table food now. I have yet to wean him to whole milk but will work on it sometime this week! On vacation this past week, he really like the water. He didn't love it, but we will work on that this summer! He loves seeing pictures of "baby" Cohen in his room. We always look at them when waking up. And he loves playing with his big brother! We had his "Ahoy!" party this weekend. Pictures of the party and our vacation are to come!

Splash Day at preschool was last Tuesday and the boys had a blast!

To celebrate preschool being OVER and Aaron's NEW JOB {!!!!}, we decided to do something fun over the weekend. Actually, Aaron decided to, and he surprised us with a night at the Great Wolf Lodge!

I promise me and Cohen got in the water. Just never got a picture of it! We had a lot of fun and are looking forward to spending some time with Aaron's family this weekend/next week in Branson! Yay for summer!

Before & Afters

Please note that the "Befores" are "professionally" done and I took the "Afters" today. It sure was hard to get an 11 1/2 month old to cooperate, but you get the picture!

As you can see the shape of his face and head changed dramatically. His head was growing out instead of back. Big improvement!

Here is the back. Yes, he has a lot of hair now, but notice his head tilting to the left. It doesn't now since his head is almost perfectly symmetrical!

Our little conehead isn't so much a conehead anymore. Again, he has a lot more hair, but you can really see a big change now!

Same for this one too! The top of his head was so sloped but, that isn't the case anymore!

We couldn't be more pleased with the results after 5 1/2 months of helmet wearing! He has done perfect without it of course. Except for when he bumps his head into things expecting it not to hurt! We knew that was going to happen! He sure does look like a different baby to us now! We are still getting use to not seeing him in it! I sure do love snuggling with him now without him banging his big helmet in my face. We will not miss the helmet one bit!

In very exciting news, Cohen graduated from his helmet!!! Yay!!! We were so pleased to find out today that his head could not continue to grow in the helmet! They were very pleased with the results and so are we! So worth the money! I will post before and after pictures soon. Happy Monday!

11 Months!

Yikes! One month til you are one! Can't believe it! Here are some of our favorite things about you, Cohen!

-You are a walking fool. You prefer to walk rather than crawl and you have gotten pretty good at it.

-You love to follow your big brother around everywhere and strangely enough he doesn't seem to care. {I have a feeling that it might be different in the future!}

-You say mama now! Which is awesome! You have also said Lizzy several times {meaning my sister, his aunt} How she got you to say it, I don't know!

-You still likes baby food but you do eat some table food as well.

-Your favorite thing to eat is the "Lil Crunchies" by Gerber Graduates. That was also your big brother's favorite!

-Your cute new thing right now is dancing. You love your Leap Frog table and love to dance to the music!

-Now that your hair is getting longer you have curls in the back! Too cute!

-You are getting better with your sippy cup but are still taking a bottle. Hopefully you will wean from the bottle to the sippy this next month.

-You still are wearing your helmet but we are keeping our fingers crossed that you will get it off within the next month.

-You are still just the happiest little guy and we couldn't be more happy about that!

What's been going on...

Whew! We are busy these days. Especially Cohen. He is almost running. Okay, not really. But if he wants to get there, he will! He hardly ever crawls anymore...he prefers to be just like his big brother! See video...

He will be 11 months in a couple of days. Hard to believe. I will post on that later.

In other news, Aaron {my wonderful, awesome, handsome husband} got laid off at work. Boo. He's taking it pretty well so far and had already began the job hunt. Anyone looking to hire someone who is wonderful, awesome AND handsome? Just pray that he will find something fairly quickly. Perhaps it will be something that he will love! And closer. I know we can't be too picky, but we can hope!

In more, other news, Noah just accepted into Scottish Rite Children's Hospital! For a run down on his leg/foot issue click here. His appt. isn't until June, but we are really excited to see what they say and do about it! And its FREE! Yay!

10 Months!

Yep, he's ten months today! He has done sooo much in the last 3 weeks. He crawls, pulls up, cruises holding on to furniture, let's go and just stands there! He is definitely a curious little guy! He doesn't say a whole lot yet but he sure does love to say Dada! We think he has even said Dede {Chester}! He waves and says hi. He now eats some table food but still loves his baby food. He can somewhat drink from a sippy cup. He had 6 teeth total...2 on bottom, 4 on top. He still has his helmet...his growth has slowed for a bit, so hopefully it will pick up again soon so that he can get it off! He still does very well with it and it comes in handy now that he is so active! He loves to follow Noah around and they can even somewhat "play" together now. Overall, he is a happy little guy...always laughing and smiling. Which sure does make Mommy and Daddy happy!

Some Projects

For awhile I have been wanting to do something with the wall our fireplace is on. I have been noticing on some design websites, that stencils are making a comeback! So I decided to stencil the whole fireplace wall to make it more interesting and more of the focal point of the room. I found a stencil I liked from Sunny's Goodtime Paint, ordered it and it shipped very quickly! We then painted the wall blue and Aaron marked a whole grid on the wall so that it will make an exact pattern (I have a sweet hubby, don't I?)! I then stenciled the whole wall while free handing some of the design once it butted up against the mantel or ceiling. I think it turned out great!

Next, we got a new buffet/console for our TV and I knew that I needed something decorative on both sides to fill in dead space. Well, I saw on Budget Wise Home, a project in which she spray painted some vases a glossy white to get the look of white ceramic decorative vases. So, I tried using vases and bottles I already had and loved how it turned out! See below:

The Ellis' are very busy these days! But, the busiest of us all has to be Cohen! He is crawling EVERYWHERE! Pulling up on EVERYTHING! Loves to get into ANYTHING! I guess that's life with an almost 10-month-old! He loves his new found freedom! Above is a video of him crawling that I took last week. Since then he has started crawling faster and longer distances. Enjoy!

Spring Break Part II

Aaron and I had an awesome time at Horseshoe Bay Resort! We ate a lot of good food, played some tennis, ate some more, played mini golf, ate more, got massages, ate, layed out by the pool, ate some more, and just enjoyed being together without the boys. Did I mention we had some good food while there? Seriously, we ate A LOT and enjoyed some nice and quiet meal times!

The first day Aaron, the tennis pro, gave me a little tennis lesson and I really did enjoy it!

are going on a trip by ourselves since almost 6 years ago...

We. cannot. wait!! The grandparents will be stepping in to take care of the boys, while Aaron and I will be at the Horseshoe Bay Resort in Marble Falls. Going to miss the boys, but they will have lots of fun being spoiled {hopefully not TOO much} by Nana and Graddy for one night and Mimi and Pawpaw for the next two nights. BIG thanks to them for letting me and Aaron escape for awhile! We are most looking forward to sleeping since both Cohen and Noah rise early these days! I am really excited to spend some time with JUST Aaron! It's been too long! Hopefully we will come back a little more rested! Off to do laundry! Goodbye!

P.S. Cohen, Please don't do anything too exciting while we are gone! You just pulled up for the first time the other day and started crawling a little today. That's it until we get back! K?

Yep, it's that time! Cohen is 9 months old!

Remember little Noah in his camo outfit?

Cohen is wearing it now. Since he is a bigger baby he can now sorta wear some of Noah's old clothes. This make Mommy happy!

We figured out we need to move the crib down, when we saw him doing this. Yes, he can go from being on his tummy to sitting.

This isn't the best picture to demonstrate, but he can pull up to his knees!

Still not crawling, but we still dangle objects in front of him to see if he will! (He's happy rolling EVERYWHERE, so we are too.)

More Cohen facts:

-He is trying to cut four top teeth right now!

-He is still a happy little guy!

-He has recently shown some shyness around strangers.

-He wears 12 month clothes or 12-18 months.

-He weighs 21 lbs and is 29 in. tall! (55th &75th %)

-We recently found out he is allergic to mangos!

-He can now have any type of table food except nut products, berries, eggs, and shellfish.

-His helmet appt. is next Monday. Keep praying for good numbers so that he will be done!

-The other day my friend, Mckenzie, came over and took some really cute pictures of him. I can't wait to show them to you!

It seems so long ago that Noah was 8 months old! But in other ways it seems like yesterday. We are blessed to have two happy boys! Don't get me wrong, they have their moments, but generally speaking they are happy! People ask me if Cohen is like Noah when he was a baby. I think the only thing that is comparable is that he is just as good-natured as Noah was. BUT, that might be it! I say that because Cohen is one wiggle worm. Very curious. Always wanting down. Doesn't like being held. Noah was and still is VERY cautious. Not a daredevil. Kind of weenie. But we love him for that! Cohen is different. He is already into all kinds of stuff and he can't even crawl yet! I think he will be one curious boy. I don't blame him. He wants to do what his big brother is doing. Cohen loves Noah and Noah loves Cohen. Gosh, I hope it is always like this ;)!

8 months!

Wow! is he really already 8 months?! 4 more months, and, I don't even want to say it, he'll be a 1 year old! He is growing way too quickly!!! At 8 months he is:

-Clapping!

-Saying dada alot! He has even said it to Aaron a couple of times...makes Mama sad ;)

-We think he has even said Hi a few times.
-Dancing...which entails bobbing up and down while sitting. So cute!

-Rolling around all over the place...quickly!

-Still not crawling but is just fine rolling everywhere!

-Loves when we sing to him or read books.

-Has really started loving Chester especially when he licks him in the face.

-Still eating baby food, but more of it!

-Weighs 20 lbs. Not sure about is height. His next well visit is next month.

-He has begun spotting the tiniest things on the carpet and tries to pick them up. Time to start vacuuming more frequently!

- He is as wiggly as ever! Does not like being held too much because he just wants down to play!

-He is absolutely too big for his carrier and needs to be in the big boy car seat, but Mama doesn't want to face reality that her baby is growing!

On a different note:Please be in prayer for Jenny. She is the sister of our close friend, Jonathan Ross. She is in critical condition in ICU with sepsis. It started as the flu and pneumonia and worsened from there. She is only in her early 30's, has a husband and 9 year old daughter. Pray for complete healing and for all the family that surrounds her, for strength and peace. Thanks so much!

After more then two months it still blows me away that this little guy is 3! Here are some fun (and not so fun) things about Noah right now!

-You love love love Curious George! So much so that you sometimes grunt like a monkey when wanting something.

-You are much more opinionated at 3 then 2. It is like you discovered you had a voice and an opinion that matters!

-You are pretty good at throwing fits! These aren't your best moments, but I guess part of being 3!

- You love to sing and to play any kind of instrument! (His music teacher at preschool was very impressed with him banging the drum and staying on beat!)

-You love your train sets, building blocks, and cars...you are such a boy!

-Your favorite foods are fettuccine alfredo (which you rarely get bc it is the worst), macaroni and cheese...notice a theme here...and Chickfila! Oh and who could forget Taco Bueno. But surprisingly at 3 you have learned to like carrots which makes Mommy happy!

-You are very inquisitive! Like asking "Why?" after EVERYTHING or "Where did that come from?"

-You are BIG on routine...especially our bedtime rituals.

-You love to entertain Cohen by reading him books or singing to him, or handing him his paci when he drops it. You are a good big brother!

-Last but DEFINITELY not least....drum roll please....

you are going potty!!!! We couldn't be more excited about this!

We are so proud of you, even if 3 is a little challenging! We love you!

Could I love this little guy more? I don't think so!

At seven months he is:

-eating pears, sweet potatoes, squash, prunes and that's about it because he is having some pooping issues!

-loves sitting and playing in the floor

-still doing awesome with his cranial band!

-sleeping about 11 hrs at night and takes 2 long naps when at home

-loves to babble...his favorites are bababa..gigigigigi

-loves loves loves his big brother

-ALWAYS smiling...he is one HAPPY little guy!

-has TWO bottom teeth {"all i want for Christmas is my two bottom teeth!"}

First I will start with Noah's Christmas party at preschool. Here he is looking at his book from his book exchange.

After preschool parties and last minute Christmas shopping we headed down to Spring/Woodlands/Baytown to spend some time with friends and family. Our first stop was at Jonathan and Jennifer's where Noah got to have some play time with his friend, Jed. I too enjoyed getting to hang out with Jennifer and Jocelyn and Aaron, I know, had fun playing golf with Jonathan. We also got to go to the Chris Tomlin Christmas concert with the Jonathan and Jennifer and other friends which was a special treat. I am sad to say I didn't get any pictures there! Oh yeah and Cohen cut his first tooth while there...more on that later. We then headed to see our friends Ben and Allison who live in the Woodlands. It was good to see them and catch up since we hadn't seen them since their wedding over a year ago! Didn't get any pics there either :( After spending a few days with our friends north of Houston, it was time to spend Christmas with Aaron's family in Baytown. We had a blast hanging out, eating good food, celebrating his parents' 30th anniversary, and seeing Noah and Cohen enjoying time with their Mimi and Pawpaw. Cohen slept the whole way home and Noah slept for the last 2 hrs. I am sure glad we headed home them because the next day we saw snow! Aaron and I dressed in our tacky outfits for our small group Christmas Party. Picture is a little blurry, but you get the idea...

Aaron decided to put Christmas lights on the house this year...so here they are!

Last night was out church's {New Hope Church} annual Nativity play that the kids put on. This year my nieces Madison and Emma were Mary and an angel, Noah and my other niece, Rylie were 'children bearing gifts', and Cohen made his debut as {big} Baby Jesus!

He is doing awesome in his cranial band! He has worn it just over a week and we have already seen changes in his head shape! We are excited...Praise God!

1/2 a Year Old!

Cohen is six months old! He went to the Dr. yesterday and weighed 18lbs 7oz (85th %) and measured 28in (95th%). He is one tall boy! They said once he is 30in he will have to move to the bigger car seat (like Noah has...faced backwards of course) because that is the max it will hold. The Dr. said everything looked great with him and is right on track with all of his milestones. Here is what Cohen is up to at 6 months:

-Almost sitting unsupported

-just starting jabbering more

-loves to laugh/smile at anyone

-has had rice cereal, squash, and sweet potatoes...still trying to get the hang of eating, though

-grabs at anyone or anything

-loves his paci now

-will tuck his knees under him when on his tummy

-sleeps with his butt in the air

Cohen is doing awesome with his cranial band!!! We couldn't of imagined how well he is adjusting to it! The first day we laid him down for a nap in it and he fell right to sleep! He barely even notices it which is wonderful news to us! He still has yet to sleep with it at night, but will have worked up to it by tomorrow night. Here are some pics of him in it...better get use to seeing these for the next 3 months!

We are thinking of decorating it somehow but have not decided on anything yet. Any ideas? Either way we think he looks cute!

It's Official...

Cohen's little world is about to be tuned upside down. Okay, that sounded a little dramatic, but for the most part it is true.

Ever since he was a month old I noticed his little head wasn't as round as it probably should be. The back of his head wasn't "rounding out" and was looking a little flat. So, at his two month well visit they told us to try readjusting him and to make sure he wasn't spending too much time on the back of his head. Well, that sure was hard for little Cohen because he slept on his back (like he was suppose to) hence why the back of his head was flat to begin with. So, at his four month visit they told us to contact Cranial Technologies to see about getting him a DOC band or as most people call it a "helmet". We decided to go through with it after praying, discussing, and thinking about it A LOT. Turns out though, that CT didn't take our insurance so we were going to have to pay almost $3600 for the thing! We quickly found another place that took our insurance and has basically the same method, Hanger. Since then, Cohen has been measured and fitted for one. His appt. is Friday to officially receive the "helmet" and start treatment.

I am kind of nervous about it because I don't know how he will react to it all. He is a terrific sleeper...sleeping almost 12 hrs at night, and he has to wear it 23 hrs. a day! I am sure it will take him (& us!)a few days and nights to get use to it, but hopefully he will come out of it in the end with a round(er) head. At his initial appt. they said he will only have to spend 3-4 months in it or until he grows out of it. So, we will see! Keep us and especially little Cohen in your prayers as we will all be adjusting to a hemet-wearing baby!

Let's face it. Halloween is NOT Noah's holiday. He is NOT a fan of people wearing masks, walking up to stranger's doors, and even doesn't care for candy all that much. He DID love dressing up, our preschool carnival, and getting to play with his cousins, though! Anyways, This year Noah, Cohen and the cousins dressed in western/Toy Story themed costumes. But, lets start with a couple pictures from the carnival.

OU/TX weekend

First of all, let me say that we had a great weekend spending time with family! James and Kami came in from Nashville and spent the weekend with us as well as Aaron's parents and brother Jared. On Friday night, Aaron grilled out bacon-wrapped shrimp and chicken...yumm. Then, Saturday we got up eaaarrrlllyyyy to head out to the Cotton Bowl. Mimi and Pawpaw gave us their tickets to the game (thanks!) and stayed with the boys so we could all go to the game!

We got there early enough to see the players come in the bus. We saw Stoops and Bradford up-close which was pretty exciting...so exciting that I didn't think to take any pictures. Then we headed over to Game Day and then into the Cotton Bowl.

Thoughts on the game...

Ugghhh... another loss. 3 to be exact. I guess that is what happens when you don't play scrub non-conference teams and lose your Heisman quarterback. Back to the game...Our defense played awesome the first half! I was kind of shocked. Almost as shocked at how poor Texas, or should I say Colt, played. When Sam went out, Aaron and I looked at each other and knew this game was probably over! At the end, Texas pretty much handed the game over to us and even then our mediocre back-up quarterback couldn't win it for us. If only Sam could have played that game.

Alright, I'm over it!

We spent the rest of Saturday resting up. Sunday was spent worshipping and then lunch with my family. This morning the Yasko's left and I have spent today doing my usual Monday-laundry, cleaning, catching up on shows, etc. Anyways, I can't believe how fast this fall is moving right along! Halloween is in less than two weeks, and before you know it my baby will be turning 3! Okay, he isn't my baby anymore, but as long as he is wearing diapers I can call him that right?! Yes, he still wears diapers...I can spend a whole 'nother blog on that subject. Anyways, enjoy your fall, because it will be Christmas before we know it!!!

4 Months!

Cohen is getting so big, as you can see! He just found his feet a couple days ago and is rolling to his side, but as yet to roll over. He also has a big lump on his bottom gums, and it looks like he is working on two teeth! We go to the Dr. next week, so I don't know his weight and height. I am assuming we will start cereal next week. He loves for Noah to talk to him and is constantly smiling and laughing! He had his first visit to the Sate Fair on Wednesday. Stay tuned for some pics! Better the blog than the kids, right?

We have been so busy hence why haven't heard from me and awhile. It actually kind of feels nice to neglect the blog sometimes...you should try it ;)

Let's see...where should I begin? Almost two weeks ago we ventured to Lake Texoma to spend a long weekend with Aaron's family. We had a lot of fun and Noah even got to spend two extra days with his Mimi and Pawpaw. While it did rain the WHOLE time, we still had a good time.

We had a good first day. My class is precious and from the looks of it, I think it will be a good year! Noah did great as well. It probably helped that he knew his teacher already and most of his friends in his class. Cohen had a good day, too!

We are looking forward to a relaxing long weekend with Aaron's family at Lake Texoma! Should be fun!
